Yoga classes are intended to be inspirational, relaxing and fun. We won't hassle you with religious dogma or psycho-spiritual hocus pocus, nor will we ask you to take on any new beliefs, though you're welcome to leave some old ones behind. Our yoga classes provide a profound insight into the nature of being human, but you need to listen and be open to letting a simple practice take you to the deepest awareness. Authentic yoga practice is powerful without being forceful, develops muscular stamina without tension, raises spiritual awareness without need for prior knowledge of yoga or Sanskrit, and is best practiced with a begginner's mind and a child's openness to all possibilities. Yoga is not a style of life, it is a way of being whose quality is unconditional.
Over the years Kaliyoga has become renowned for its world class vegetarian cuisine. This is delicious, organic, energising nutrition. We give you cutting edge advice about becoming lean and healthy with raw food and superfoods, and we have some great recipes for you to try here and at home.
Kaliyoga offers a wide choice of holistic treatments with some of the world's most gifted healers who are available most weeks. There's no need to book in advance, just tell us which treatments you'd like when you arrive and we'll arrange them for you.
Our retreats accommodate up to fifteen people and every course includes two daily yoga classes, delicious meals (or juices during Juice Fasting Detox weeks) and accommodation which comprises 4 rooms in the main house, 2 wooden chalets in the grounds. In summer there are 6 large tipis among the olive terraces in front of the house. We also have an exceptional team of holistic therapists who are availabe in the afternoons and there are additional group workshops and excursions for you to enjoy during your stay.
Kaliyoga is a working olive farm with an informal home-away-from-home atmosphere that differentiates us from other purpose-built retreat centres and spas. We are surrounded by the verdant and distinctive Alpujarra landscape, yet only half an hour from the sea and 10 mins from the market towns of Orgiva and Lanjaron.
We invite you to slow down so that you can truly get a taste of what 'being present' feels like. Spiritual teachers have always taught that the experience of being fully present leads to wisdom, creativity and bliss.
The daily yoga sessions invite a deeply satisfying awareness that invites you to experience your own unique presence, just as you are. From this awareness we can begin to let go of negative thoughts and emotional baggage that are the source of our own suffering.
We came from London to Spain in 2002 with the intention of setting up a yoga holiday destination where people could really relax and let their hair down. A farmhouse near Orgiva turned out to be the perfect setting and, with a little help from friends, Kaliyoga began to take shape. Now the place is flourishing thanks to our fabulous staff and our wonderful guests who tell their friends about us. We hope you enjoy reading this website and we look forward to seeing you at Kaliyoga soon.
